Roberto Aiello
Technology Executive
Dr. Aiello is responsible for emerging technologies and new business initiatives at Itron, including Internet of Things. Managed wireless research at Interval Research, Paul Allen’s technology incubator in the Bay Area and technology transfer at Disney Research. Lean Startup expert, serves as a mentor at startup accelerators such as Cleantech Open and Startup Weekend. Founded two venture funded, wireless semiconductor companies, and one web/ mobile. Worked as a Physicist at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center and Superconducting Super Collider.
Martin Arlitt
Senior Researcher
HP Labs
Martin Arlitt is a senior research scientist at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories (HP Labs) in Palo Alto, CA, where he has worked since 1997. His general research interests are workload characterization and performance evaluation of distributed computer systems. Currently, he is evaluating the performance and scalability of Vertica as an analytics platform for the Internet of Things era. His 80+ research papers have been cited more than 7,000 times (according to Google Scholar). He has 20 granted patents and many more pending. He is an ACM Distinguished Scientist and a senior member of the IEEE. In 2012 he was program co-chair of ACM SIGMETRICS, the world’s premiere venue for research publications on performance evaluation
Chris ‘CB’ Bohn
Senior Database Engineer
Mr. Bohn has been in the tech industry for more than 25 years, and has held a wide variety of positions. After graduation from the University of California, Berkeley, he spent his early years in the field as a C programmer. He then moved into technical product management at Broderbun Software before co-founding a successful startup during the Web 1.0 years. During the 2000s, he was a database consultant, specializing in migrating customers to open source relational databases. He has been with Etsy.com since 2007, where he has played a major role in managing and scaling its production relational databases through a period rapid growth. Etsy became a Vertica customer in 2012, and Mr. Bohn is currently the Senior Database Engineer responsible for managing the Vertica installation and integration into the Etsy Data Analytics stack. He is the principal developer of the Schlep ETL replicator, a system for replicating data from relational databases into Vertica.
Eric Fegraus
Director of Information Systems
Conservation International
Eric Fegraus is the Director of Information Systems for Conservation International’s Tropical Ecology Assessment and Monitoring (TEAM) Network. TEAM provides near real time data that helps to inform conservation decisions regarding the effects of global climate change in 16 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Through his work with TEAM and key partners Eric has led the design and implementation of one of the first operating multidisciplinary IT systems for a biodiversity and ecosystem service monitoring network.
Eric is interested in technologies that can advance our capacity to quantify and monitor Earth’s natural systems and understand their interaction with socioeconomic factors. He has previously worked as an environmental consultant and a software engineer. He was also a research scientist at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS). Eric received a B.S. in Environmental Biology and Management from the University of California at Davis and holds a Master of Environmental Science and Management (M.E.S.M) degree from the Donald Bren School of Environmental Management at University of California at Santa Barbara.
Peter Fishman

Peter Fishman is Director of Analytics at Yammer, the enterprise social network acquired by Microsoft in 2012.  Prior to joining Yammer he worked at Playdom/Disney and as a statistician for the Philadelphia Eagles.  He holds a Ph.D. in economics from UC Berkeley.

Jeff leads product marketing for the HP Vertica Analytics Platform, the industry’s leading analytics platform purpose built to manage massive volumes of Big Data at extreme scale and blazing-fast performance. With more than 15 years of high-tech marketing experience and deep knowledge in messaging, positioning, and content development, Jeff has previously led product marketing initiatives for Axeda Corporation, the leading M2M platform for sensor data and the Internet of Things. Prior to Axeda, Jeff held product marketing, customer success, and lead editorial roles at The MathWorks, Macromedia (now Adobe), Sybase (now SAP), and The Boston Globe.
Kevin Holbrook
Director of Advanced Development
Kevin Holbrook joined Axeda as part of the Professional Services team in 2007, and currently serves as Director of Advanced Development in the R&D group. In this role he contributes to the Platform product architecture, bringing with him the customer focus and experience gained in numerous customer interactions. Kevin loves everything software-related, and spends his free time experimenting with new languages and frameworks.
Erdem Inan

Erdem Inan is currently working at Peak Games as the Director of Marketing & Business Intelligence. His two years experience at Peak Games include global marketing campaigns of many titles both on Social Networks and on Mobile Platforms and 10+ global game launches. He & his team established a connected data infrastructure of Marketing & Business Intelligence Activities at Peak Games for all the portfolio titles that allows them to take quick action during these marketing campaigns & game launches as well as to implement timely & effective CRM activities. Prior to Peak Games, he worked in the Business Development Department at an e-commerce incubator for several e-commerce start-ups both in Turkey and in MENA region. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University, Turkey and a Master’s Degree in Economics from Bocconi University, Italy.
Rasheed Kahn

Rasheed Khan is a senior manager in the Financial Services North America Analytics practice. He is the Enterprise Analytics Technology expert across Financial Services. Rasheed has over 15 years of financial services and Media experience. He held the role of Vice President at Morgan Stanley, Private Wealth Management for 10 plus years, and also worked at Deutsche Bank PWM. Rasheed was Director of BI & Consumer Sentiment Analysis at Omnicom Media Group. At Annalect (an Omnicom Media Group Company), Rasheed developed a mechanism to work with R (Statistical & Analytical Engine) over HTTP & HTTPS and was a team lead which developed Media & Advertising Centric suite of applications in asp .NET MVC3 with AJAX, JQuery & JSON. Rasheed & his team developed multiple web applications for Trust & Estates, Insurance as Investment, Legal & Compliance, Domestic & Int’l Equities, and Fixed Income while at Morgan Stanley. Rasheed recently worked with big commercial banks in implementing Big Data solutions consisting of Hadoop Ecosystem & HP Vertica with SAS and R analytical engine. Rasheed holds a MS in Organic Chemistry & BS in Math & Physics plus 4 years of Ph.D. level research experience.
Arno Kolster
Senior MTS Architect
Arno Kolster was born in The Netherlands and grew up in Canada where he received a degree in Computer Science from The University Of Calgary after a stint as a professional musician.
Opportunity took him to America, where he’s been a resident of both coasts, first in Virginia and currently in San Francisco.
His main career focus over the past 25 years has been database architecture, database administration and operations architecture for a number of different industries including oil and gas, emergency services, finance and e-commerce.
His extensive knowledge of relational databases has expanded to include the prolific influx of new database technologies such as NoSQL and graph databases.
An interest in HPC and technical computing came about as a result of finding solutions to solving real time data analytics across distributed systems at web scale.
Arno and his colleague, Ryan Quick, received an IDC Innovation Excellence Award at SuperComputing 2012 and he’s been invited to speak both domestically and internationally on HPC and its role deployment at PayPal.
Arno’s hobbies include music and philately. He’s a member of the prestigious Royal Philatelic Society of London and the American Philatelic Society.

Shreyas Shrivastava
Director at Vichara Technologies
Shreyas Shrivastava has led various data management and analytics initiatives for Vichara’s clients in the financial services industry. He is also the main architect of Vichara’s ultra-fast and highly scalable data analysis platform vLens. Prior to joining Vichara, he has worked for Microsoft and Infosys Technologies. Shreyas holds B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Information Technology from Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management, India.
Craig Snodgrass

Craig has over 20 years’ experience in analytics, product development, and operations. In his current role, he is focused on maximizing value for advertisers, financial institutions, and end consumers.  He has been instrumental in delivering an infrastructure and culture build around data and the insights they provide.  He began his career as a Chemical Engineer at Honeywell where he applied Six Sigma methodologies to drive key improvements across a variety of operations and product/site launches. Craig entered the Payments industry in 2000 where he spent the next 10 years at Capital One in a variety of roles across marketing and operations, each leveraging his deep expertise in analytics. During his tenure, he helped design, launch and manage the Decoupled Debit product. Craig holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MS in Math from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Portman Wills leads the Data Science team at GSN Games, hunting for patterns and insights in trillions of data points. He has spent the last 20 years deploying software to solve big problems: the national disease tracking system in Peru, a real-time ad personalization network on Facebook, a distributed data entry platform in Southeast Asia, the original mobile virtual network operator in the US, as well as several hundred corporate websites and intranets. He lives in Petaluma, California with his wife and four children.
Chris Wright
Chris co-founded predictive analytics specialists GamesAnalytics in 2010 bringing sophisticated analytics and monetization tools of the financial sector to the games industry. Wright started his games industry career in 1995 at console developer Inner Workings and in 1998 Wright joined I-play (formally Digital Bridges) to set up the game development and publishing division. As European Director of Production and Publishing he helped I-play to become a top three mobile games publisher worldwide. In 2007, I-play was acquired by Oberon Media for an estimated $110 million. Chris launched Games Consultancy Ltd. providing operational and strategic consultancy to major publishers including Capcom, Microsoft and EA, alongside a number of game development studios and Government agencies.
Yuko Yamazaki

Yuko Yamazaki, as head of Analytics at Zynga, is obsessed with how real-time data can directly affect the company’s bottom line while benefiting the customers they serve. Over the last four years, Yuko has built one of the largest Vertica clusters in existence with 230 nodes holding 500TB of compressed data supporting a 30 billion daily data load. The end-to-end infrastructure that Yuko manages has become a key to bring Analytics to be a part of company’s culture and she is now focused on bringing the value of Machine Learning and Advanced User Acquisition Analytics into that culture as well. Yuko is an outspoken leader fostering national and local Women in Analytics/Technology support groups. Prior to Zynga, Yuko has worked at various successful companies, such as Wells Fargo, Google, Salesforce.com and E*trade.
