David Abercrombie
Data Analytics Engineer
David Abercrombie is a Vertica performance engineer and the Technical Project Manager for Tapjoy’s MicroStrategy Cloud deployment. He is responsible for all aspects of Tapjoy’s MicroStrategy/Vertica project, from product management, support, and training to ETL, metadata architecture, projection design and performance monitoring.
Jimmy Hong
Director of Business Intelligence Research, Development, and Engineering
Jimmy Hong, is responsible for development and business value delivery for existing BI services and platform(s). He is additionally responsible for Innovation and Engineering, which supports the EDW Migration. Prior to this role, Jimmy was IT Director in Global Data Services where he led multiple functions and teams including Architecture and Engineering, Operations, Records Management, and Data Archiving. His leadership was instrumental in building a culture of customer-centricity, proactive management and engineering. This resulted in best-in class scale and availability (above five-nines), incident ticket reductions from over 70,000 per quarter to approximately 1,500 and the launch of infrastructure services on the cloud (DBaaS).
Hugo Sheng
Senior Director, Partner Engineering
Hugo Sheng leads Qlik’s Partner Engineering organization which is responsible for the integration of Global Technology Partner solutions with the Qlik platform. Hugo has spent the past 16 years working in the data management space, specializing in highly scalable data warehousing solutions. He held various senior roles at Torrent Systems, Ascential Software, and IBM prior to joining Expressor Software in 2009 where he lead Sales Engineering and Services, and continued to do so after the Qlik acquisition in June 2012. During this time Hugo worked with several Global 2000 companies to create impactful solutions which often resulted in 75% reduction in capital spending and 200 times improvement in performance. Before working in the data management space, Hugo had spent several years in software development in the medical device industry, creating embedded software solutions for life sustaining medical devices. Hugo holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston and an MBA from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University.
Chris Selland
VP of Marketing Business Development
HP Vertica
Chris Selland is Vice President Marketing and Business Development, HP Vertica. In this role, he leads global marketing for the HP Vertica Analytics platform. Chris has more than 20 years of experience in online, search and inbound marketing programs. He has also led strategic alliance and corporate development initiatives for entrepreneurial, high-growth companies. Chris is an established thought leader, speaker and author on customer strategy-related topics, including social media analytics and marketing, CRM, customer analytics, metrics and loyalty.Earlier in his career, Selland was Vice President of CRM and Internet Research at the Yankee Group, and later he founded Reservoir Partners, a customer strategy research firm that merged with Aberdeen Group. He is also a founding member of the Enterprise Irregulars. He received a bachelor’s degree in operations research and industrial engineering from Cornell University and a master’s of business administration in international business and economics from the New York University Stern School of Business.
Vivek Sundaram
Solution Architect
Vivek Sundaram, Solution Architect at Glassbeam, has over six years of experience in smart systems and machine data analytics. Prior to Glassbeam, Vivek headed the Research & Development team of Pacific Control Systems LLC, Dubai, a global leader in M2M and Smart System solutions.Having a strong background in data analytics platforms, especially around the “Internet of Things”, Vivek’s primary responsibility is to work closely with customers, understand their business needs, design and deliver a comprehensive solution using Glassbeam’s technology and product suite.Vivek graduated with a degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Anna University.
Josh Varner
Senior Database Administrator
Josh Varner is a database administrator at Twitter, a member of the DBA team which manages all relational databases within the company. Josh specializes in analytical databases and leads the team’s efforts in this area. He’s spent the last 15 years being a professional geek, focusing primarily on open source technologies & databases. His most recent interest has been in building tools to assist with managing database clusters. When he’s not in front of a Bash prompt, you’ll find Josh with his lovely wife Kim and their precocious daughter Alice.
Eddie White
Executive VP Business Development

Eddie is responsible for developing Pentaho’s strategic relationships with big data vendors and commercializing Pentaho Business Analytics for major cloud/SaaS hardware and software vendors. Eddie has more than 20 years of experience helping businesses meet and exceed their sales revenue and growth targets through, business development, strategic alliances partnerships, and acquisitions. Prior to Pentaho, Eddie held senior leadership positions at Sentilla, Computer Associates, Adaptec and Eurologic.
Ping Zhang
Senior VP of Product Innovation and CTO
Ping Zhang joined Mede Analytics in April 2013 with over 20 years of technology, product innovation, client delivery, and business experience. He has provided engineering leadership for a wide variety of organizations, ranging from startups to some of the world’s best-known technology companies. Most recently, Ping was the senior vice president of research & development at Epocrates, Inc., a mobile and cloud-based health pioneer widely recognized for developing the most popular point-of-care medical applications used by physicians. Prior to Epocrates, he held executive leadership positions for Harris Corporation, Carefx Corporation, QuadraMed Corporation, and Siemens.Ping earned his bachelor’s degree at the age of 19 from Hunan Agricultural University in Changsha, China. He holds both a Master of Science degree and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.Ping enjoys reading, jogging, and playing basketball with his two teenage boys. He also serves as a volunteer judge for youth speech and debate events.
